While I realize that school has not yet started, this page
is intended to be a work in progress. For now, I will be posting some great
books with which your child may be familiar. Feel free to allow your child to
read any of these that catch their eye. As the year progresses, we will be
working on choosing books based on preference, rather than reading level. They
may know the 5-finger rule for choosing a good book, and I would recommend that
for any books read in or out of school. These are classics, and you may
remember reading them when you were little (I know I do!). Some may be a bit much for your
child and some they will find overly easy. As a parent, you have a natural
ability to judge your child’s skill level and trust their knowledge. I do ask
for your discretion when helping your child select a book.
